Six Revisions Post: Coding a Band Website Created in Photoshop

tutorials,web design — by Shannon on December 29, 2009

My follow-up post to How to Design a Band Website Layout in Photoshop, my original Six Revisions blog post, came out today. I go through step-by-step how to slice and dice a layout created in Photoshop, using a fun design that I created for a fictional band named Six Revisions. I talk about the details of coding, using good honest coding practices to create a fully-functioning HTML/CSS  site. Everyone codes differently and it’s fun to see how someone else tackles a design taking it from PSD to HTML/CSS. Hope you enjoy!

Six Revisions is a great blog with useful information for designers and developers. My first blog post as a guest author there was published today: How to Design a Band Website Layout in Photoshop. The in-depth tutorial takes you through the process of building a band website in Photoshop step-by-step, just as the title suggests! It was great fun designing the layout and the tutorial is packed full of Photoshop stuff. Check it out at sixrevisions.com.

A compilation of my favorite tutorials

I love to learn new things and lately it’s been some javascripting with jquery and mootools. It’s amazing what you can find on the internet, and these days you can get tutorials on pretty much anything you want. It is hard to find good ones when you want them though! I collect good ones when I see them, or things that I feel would be useful in my work, so I decided to share my list of good tuts out there, what ones can you add to my list?

jQuery

mootools

CSS Effects

Great Tutorial Sites

  • nettuts.com – Great tutorials and tips on everything on the internet, lots of jquery and mootools lately! Sister sites with great stuff as well include: psdtuts.com and vectortuts.com
  • css-tricks.com – Great CSS stuff here, and he frequently covers other relevant web developer issues as well.
  • noupe.com – Not a tutorial designed site, but they have some great tutorials on here for lots of different things.

What have you been really into learning lately, and what are some of your favorite tutorials?
