web design — by Shannon on May 18, 2010

shirtsmyway ShirtsMyWay is a custom men’s dress shirt company that allows customers to design shirts however they like. As they describe it on the site, “You can customize every aspect of your dress shirt to get the look and fit just right. Our design features and tailoring options are entirely free. Price is based on what you select as the main fabric.”

Recently they redesigned their site in order to simplify the user experience and make everything more user-friendly. Check out the new design at ShirtsMyWay.com.

Sleek New Site Design

The new modern site design caters to the customer, walking users through the process of creating their own shirt step by step. It’s all customized making you feel as if you’re really involved and getting exactly what you want. The user experience on the new site is great. People love to be involved and they are going to really enjoy creating their own custom dress shirt.

In With The New Out With The Old

The old site was quite a bit darker and not as easy to navigate. Many improvements have been made to the user experience and customers will greatly benefit from the lighter and quicker new site. They can now find what they are looking for easily and effortlessly.

The new site is much lighter in color which will help users create the shirt they want without any noise from the surrounding site design. Small details make the new design shine with 1 pixel borders, slight gradients and soft shadows. These little details are great touches and help make the site more modern in feel.

Their target audience is 25-45 year old males that are in an office environment on a regular basis. The old darker design was a bit too heavy but the new design hits this target audience better, and will also appeal to a wider range of people. Now women can order for men as well and still feel at ease on the site.

New Features On The Site

The new site features a lot of new photos, most importantly lots of new fabric photos. They told me they wanted, “to give users an experience that was as close as possible to being able to feel the fabric”. They also tripled the amount of fabric choices to give users more options. The shirt design process was also simplified, eliminating some clicks and streamlining the process.

They have seen a jump in traffic and nearly doubled their conversion rate, which speaks to the fact that the redesign was necessary and well worth it. Check out the new site at ShirtsMyWay.com and let us know what you think in the comments area below.
