New Site Launch: Krystina’s 65 Roses Poker Run

new website launch by Shannon Noack on August 24, 2010 | 2 Comments

krystinaWe just launched a new site for a charity event to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis. The event is called Krystina’s 65 Roses Poker Run and will be on October 16th in Cave Creek, Arizona.

The site is fun and informational, showcasing the unique event and honoring a great woman who lost her life to Cystic Fibrosis. Textures and rich colors create a great look and a fun atmosphere. The family event will be full of laughter and good times and the site falls right in step with that, setting the standards for a great time on October 16th. Check it out at krystinas65roses.com.

Krystina’s 65 Roses Poker Run is a new event taking place this year and we couldn’t be happier to work with such a worthy cause. The proceeds from the event go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and will help fund research for finding a cure. The site represents a serious cause with heavy emotions but needed to be lighthearted in nature because the event will be fun and joyful. The logo is playful and helped give the site a fun look with bright colors and uplifting typography. The bright fuchsia from the logo is carried over to the design and used to brighten the color palette of mostly dark grey tones.

The event is for motorcyclists and needed to be geared toward that audience as well as be representative of the event itself. We used a few different textures to roughen up the site and give it an edgier look. Diamond-plated steel combined with tire tracks, crumpled paper and rough edges create a fun and interesting look.

We had to add some additional functionality to take the site over the top. The homepage features a scrolling jQuery banner, using the Cycle plugin. Motion on the homepage is always a nice added feature, creating more interest and additional things to look at. We also used Bank Gothic for all headlines to go along with the theme, and implemented that using CSS3’s @font-face.

We’d love to hear what you think of the new site and encourage everyone to get involved! If you’re in the Phoenix area, the event is on October 16th and promises to be a really good time! You can attend the event, participate in the poker run, buy a t-shirt or just donate money on the site. Check out the site at krystinas65roses.com.
