adamgilbertToday we’re bringing you another interview with a great business owner, talking about design and how it relates to business. We like to talk design with successful businesses, and get the scoop on their thoughts about design and websites. Check out the other great posts in this series. Adam Gilbert founded My Body Tutor, which helps people get on track to attain the body they want. The website for My Body Tutor is fun and full of activity and color. It shows off their mission and energy and helps users navigate through the site easily. We asked him a few questions about design and business, check out what Adam has to say.

1. Please tell us a little bit about your business My Body Tutor and what you do.

MyBodyTutor.com helps people stick to their diet and exercise plans. After all, what good is ANY diet or exercise program if we can’t stick to it?

With our proven methods and system, we’ve helped 100’s of people throughout the US and world get the body they want by providing daily and personal accountability, relentless support, coaching, and motivation plus a proven program that works.

Because of our unique approach we’ve been featured in numerous media outlets such as Good Morning America, AOL.com, U.S. News & World Report, Conde` Nast Publications, The Huffington Post, Shape Magazine, Newsday, Press & Sun Bulletin, Binghamton Alumni Journal and Inside BU.

2. How important do you think design is to a business? What role does it play in your business?

I think design is very important. Without good design, it’ll be much harder to get people to listen (or read) your message. Design sends a very strong signal of how serious you are.

Many people think good design can make up for a terrible product or service, though.

Of course, the best combo is to have a product or service you believe in 1000% combined with good design. (I’d recommend working on your product or service first, if you don’t feel so strongly about it.)

3. What do you think makes a website successful?

It depends on how you define successful.

If successful means getting people to sign up for your program, it’s important to clearly convey exactly what clients will get and to provide lots of evidence – in the form of testimonials, case studies, press mentions, etc., that what they’re about to sign up for will help them.

4. What items on your site make it different and unique?

The fact that we offer a money back guarantee is very unique for a weight loss service. We also have tons of case studies and testimonials.

5. Is there anything you would change about your website if you had to do it again?

I wouldn’t have waited as long as I did to re-do it. You can have the best program in the world but if your design doesn’t signal that people won’t be as likely to give you a chance.

Thank you for the interview Adam, we appreciate you taking the time to answer our questions! You have some great points, we couldn’t agree more. Look out for more great interviews from Snoack Studios with successful and savvy business-owners like Adam!

First off, this is a fantastic interview. All of these entrepreneurs are so passionate; it’s refreshing to see. Thanks for introducing them to us!

I especially want to thank you for introducing me to MyBodyTutor. What a fantastic idea; such a smart and necessary offering. I was intrigued by what Adam had to say.

I checked out his website and it seems like his program was created exactly for someone like me! Lol. “Consistency” is my problem. I start and stop, I start and stop. Not anymore though – because of you I just joined. I’m really excited!!

Finally, to my question. Adam’s website is beautifully designed. Did you design this or are you just interviewing entrepreneurs with nicely designed websites?

Thanks in advance and thanks for introducing me to Adam and his service!!

Hi Lara, glad you enjoyed the interview! And I’m so happy to have connected you with a service that you found valuable, that’s awesome! I did not design Adam’s website, or the other entrepreneurs in the series of interviews I’ve been posting. I came across their websites and thought they were really great. Well-designed, easy to use, and showcased their services well, which is exactly what they need! I wanted to interview business owners that knew the value of design and had something to say about business and design. I’ve enjoyed interviewing these great people, hopefully my readers have enjoyed it as well! There are more to come 🙂

Feel free to suggest someone for the series, I always enjoy connecting with new people!
