5 Ways To Boost Your Facebook Page

social media by Shannon Noack on June 29, 2011 | 0 Comments

Facebook pages provide a great opportunity to promote your company and reach more potential customers. It’s important to stand out from the competition through customization and personalization of your page. Make sure you’re capitalizing on those opportunities by creating a Facebook page for your company that fits in with your style and company character.

There are also lots of opportunities to increase interaction and grow your audience. Read on to discover some of our tips on how to make your Facebook page the best it can be for your company.

1. Custom Landing Tab

Customize your first-time user’s experience on your page. You really only have seconds to impress them and make them want to click like, and a custom landing tab allows you to add color, photos, and other eye-catching things that describe who you are, why they should hit the like button, and what they’re going to get out of the deal. So the tab needs to be powerful but simple so they can digest it quickly and make a decision. This is the most important thing you can have for your Facebook page.

2. Email Capture Form

Facebook allows you to have multiple custom tabs so you could certainly add this to an additional custom tab for your page, or add it to your landing tab (which is where Snoack Studios’ email capture form is). Capturing emails is a great way to build your list and give your followers another way to hear from you. Staying top of mind is important to build recognition and helping them remember you. Also, some people aren’t on Facebook as much as others and might prefer email, so give them that choice. Also, if you give them a reason to opt-in to your list (free stuff!) they will be more likely to do so.

3. Facebook Apps

Facebook offers tons of apps that give your page a more customized presence. If you hold a lot of events, add an event tab. If you’re a photographer you’ll want to customize your photo area. There are countless options to make your space yours: photos, polls, blog posts, twitter feed, videos, etc. Different companies are going to need different things. Think about what would make your users feel welcome, give them more information about what you do, and encourage them to interact. Then search for an app and add it to your sidebar area.

4. Custom Default Image

This is another opportunity to stimulate your page visually, and give your Facebook page a different look than others. You can use a maximum size of 180 pixels wide by 540 pixels tall. Utilizing the full amount of space gives you more room to add visual information for your fans. Add some photos, your website address, your logo, pictures of your products or your employees. Lots of options for this, but do make sure you make it visually stunning and not overloaded with text. You want to add personality to your page and a quick look at who you are, but don’t expect users to read much here.

5. Smart Status Updates

One of the best ways to boost your page for your users is to provide a great user experience through relevant status updates. Promote conversation by asking questions, or posting things that your users will comment on. Stimulating conversation is a tough one on Facebook, especially for businesses. But it’s a great way to grow your audience and get more fans interested. Brainstorm things that will work for your company and try different things until you find a balance that works well for you.
