I want to be unique and different, just like everyone else!

Most companies say they want to be unique, it’s what makes products sell so it only makes sense. Being different not only gets attention, it helps you stand apart from the competition.

And yet I hear this from clients frequently, “I want to do something that’s never been done before, I want to be really unique and do something completely outside of the box! I really like what that company did, can we do something similar?”

Being different is uncomfortable, it’s hard not to follow the crowd and do what’s always been done, what’s expected of you. But if you’re marketing a new product that you want to stand out, (which you should!) why would you do the same thing as anyone else?

Even if you’re a telephone provider opening your services in a place with little to no competition, do something new! People have to use your services but that doesn’t mean you can’t impress them with incredible marketing schemes and unique branding initiatives. Go door to door and drop off a telephone-shaped flyer that says call me and we’ll do business! Make your customers feel special, make them be proud to have the best telephone provider they’ve ever seen.

Website trends for 2009

This year is full of many new trends and styles. Yellow is a popular color this year and you’ll see it prevalent in many sites. The use of large typography is also really popular, people are using big fonts to welcome users to a site or to call out important lines. Illustration is really in as well, bringing back whimsical styles intended to make you smile. Layered textures are popular as well, creating a really unique and slightly grungy look.
